If you have been alive and taken in the dogma of nutrition advise over the past 30-40 years, you most likely "know" that saturated fat is BAD and must be avoided as much as possible to avoid weight gain (getting fat) and arterial sclerosis (fat building up in your arteries) that will cause a heart attack. This is every day knowledge, right? Ask everyone you know about this subject and 3 out of 4 people will agree that we all need to eat less fat. The truth is that yes, saturated fat was believed to be the cause of fat buildup in our arteries as well as being deposited as stored fat on our bodies,

BUT… the saturated-fat-is-bad hypothesis (a better term is hunch) was NEVER PROVEN TO BE TRUE

Years of controlled studies have not confirmed that saturated fat is bad for human health. In fact, the reduction of fat intake (with the subsequent increased uptake of carbs & sugar) was a health disaster. Two of the best long time nutrition researchers in this field, Dr. Stephen Phinney and Dr. Jeff Volek have summed up the issue beautifully in their report: The Sad Saga Of Saturated Fat on their website.

If you are not 100% convinced that saturated fat is healthy (and you are not already on a low carb high fat diet), I suggest that you first take a blood lipid test to get current readings of your LDL & HDL cholesterol, triglycerides. Then seriously engage on a full-on low carb high fat (**chose healthy fat from grass fed sources, not industrial feedlot meat) eating plan for 60 days and take the blood lipid test again. You will find significant reductions in the small dense LDL cholesterol particles as well as raised HDL cholesterol (the good cholesterol). You will also have lost much excess weight (unless you were already at a normal BMI weight for your frame and height). It is also important for you to know that I have never yet reduced my food intake such that I was ever hungry at the end of a meal. The only rule is to eat food until you are full, then stop. Let your appetite be your guide.
